Pharmaceutics Department
Head of Department
Dr. Masoud Ali Karami
Preface
The field of pharmaceutics includes various educational and research topics related to the formulation, quality control and pharmacokinetic studies of the drugs.
Pharmaceutics is one of the oldest and most prominent branches in the field of pharmacy, which has seen remarkable advances over the past few decades. The design and use of a variety of new drug delivery systems, especially particle carriers, and the application of nanoscience and biotechnology have revolutionized recent years in this field. On the other hand, the design and implementation of a variety intelligent and targeted drug delivery systems have enabled drug delivery at the cellular and even intracellular levels.
The department of pharmaceutics was established in Ahvaz pharmacy school in 1987. During development of the pharmacy school, three laboratories of pharmaceutics (I-III), in the field of industrial pharmacy, research and nanotechnology and pharmaceutical dosage forms were added to the department. Currently, the department have 8 academic staff, 5 Ph.D. students and 5 associated staff.
Mission
-To train qualified and experienced specialists in the field of pharmaceutics.
-To carry out the research projects in the field of pharmaceutics.
-To communication with pharmaceutical industries in the related projects.
Vision
The main goal of the department is to conduct research and provide education and train of students at Pharm.D. and Ph.D. levels in the area of design of conventional and novel drug dosage forms.
Education activities
-To teach and train various courses in the fields of theoretical and practical pharmaceutical technology, biopharmacy, physical pharmacy, physico-chemical and microbial quality control.
Research activities
