AJUMS School of Pharmacy

 

Ahvaz School of Pharmacy is among the oldest pharmacy schools in Iran, which was first founded in 1975, as a department at the faculty of Medical Technology in Ahvaz, for the education of students with a Bachelor of Pharmacy.

In 1982 the educational program was changed into the Professional Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy (Pharm.D).  After the separation of Medical Sciences Universities from the Ministry of Science in 1986, and joining to the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, Ahvaz School of Pharmacy was independently established. It has been responsible and still remains as a pioneer in the innovative education and training of tomorrow’s pharmacists in the South West region of the country.

Now the school has more than 44 faculty members with different specialties working in eight educational departments at the school, including: Pharmacology, Toxicology, Pharmaceutics, Medicinal Chemistry, Food and Drug Control, Pharmacognosy ,Clinical Pharmacy and Persian Traditional Medicine & Pharmacy.

More than 508 students are studying and majoring in education and research in a six-year Pharm.D degree program, four different PhD programs in Pharmacology, Toxicology, Pharmaceutics and Traditional Pharmacy as well as four Master of Science (MSc.) degree programs in  Medicinal Chemistry, Toxicology, Food Control and the Marine Medicinal Compounds.
